We are constantly working to make WikiAnswers more user-friendly, but we still have a long way to go. Our first challenge is to communicate what WikiAnswers is. This is no ordinary question and answer website. Unlike any other Q&A site, people don't "own" their questions and answers here. Eveything is collaborative. Answers are wikis, and so are the questions themselves. This enables us to grow permanent information resources through individual human actions. It's a powerful process, but not a simple one to understand.

You read someplace on this website that nobody has to join WikiAnswers to use this website so you do not understand why you had such a hard time signing in What is the story do you have to be a membe?
Anyone with access to the internet can access WikiAnswers, although registration does bring certain benefits it is not a requirement.

Why won't this thing answer the question I asked?
'This thing' is not a robot. WikiAnswers is made up of many volunteer contributors throughout the world, and each and every one of them is human. So, a user may not answer your question because it is hard to understand, they can't understand it at all, and many other reasons, including that they just do not know the answer.
Why is it so hard to find the ask button on WikiAnswers?
Unless you are visually impaired, it is not hard. There is a giant "Ask" button on the top of the page in green.
