The Prius is not the most fuel efficient car. the Honda insight is the most fuel efficient car today at 65 mpg, prius only gets 55 mpg in 2008; however the insight only has 2 seats and 2 doors; the Prius 5 seats and 4 doors, big difference. A large number of Japanese people (not sure if were hundred of thousands or perhaps millions were killed in a matter of minutes with a very sophisticated and technologically advanced weapon of mass destruction in 1942. Very quickly they realized that they were lacking technological knowledge and that if they want to be the leaders in the world they needed to compete in technology.That was and still is their priority. look in the back of your television, your camera, your cellular phone or any of the most advanced technological device available in this planet, where is made. American car manufacturers at the beginning of the century were the pioneers on technological innovation; in the last 20 years more or less, their priorities have shifted to become the most wealthy and profitable.
