What do line voltage thermostats have that low voltage thermostats don't?

Line voltage sometimes varies according to how much load there is from neighbours and other users. When the voltage is high, the water heats more quickly so that the thermostat cuts out sooner, so the amount of energy used ia about the same. <<>> It is the difference in construction of the two thermostats. A line thermostat uses a bi-metal sensor to open and close the line voltage. The room temperature fluctuation has to be greater between the stat turning on to off, as the differential setpoint can not be regulated as fine as a low voltage stat. A low voltage thermostat uses a mercury switch that is operated from a spring that senses the room temperature. Low voltage thermostats do not control the line voltage to the heater but use a remote contactor to open and close the voltage supply to the heater. There is a compensator in the low voltage stat that can be set for the contactor's coil current. This way the temperature generated by the coil of the remote contactor is nulled and the thermostat only reads the room temperature. The differential setpoint on a low voltage thermostat has a finer setting than that of a line thermostat, so a more accurate temperature is maintained.

Normally a high current flows through a short circuit even if there is no change to the voltage. Why is this?

A high current flows through a short circuit even if there is no voltage change because the resistance across the short circuit is zero.

What is medium and high voltage?

Medium voltage is over 1000 v, high voltage is over 45 kV.

When was High Voltage Festival created?

High Voltage Festival was created in 2010.

Why is high voltage a plus?

its because of transformers . they work with pulse

What are the is electrical relays and its principals and operation?

An electrical relay uses a low voltage, low current signal to control an electromagnet. When current passes through the electromagnet, it attracts the spring loaded arm with contactors, which will touch some stationary contactors, closing a circuit on a higher voltage/high current circuit. An example of this is when your thermostat 'tells' the air conditioner to turn on. The voltage & current from the thermostat are low, while the voltage & current necessary to run the air conditioner's compressor are high..

How does the 2-stage high efficiency home central air conditioner operate?

The way the unit operates depends on the type of thermostat installed. Normally, they use a two stage thermostat. In this case, when the thermostat senses a need for cooling the condensing unit starts in low speed. If the temperature at the thermostat does not drop fast enough, the condensing unit is switched to high speed. The timing of the changing of speeds varies with the thermostat and unit.

What else should you do if your AC fan will not stay on and you already have a new fan motor and cap?

Check to see that you are getting voltage to the motor. You must check for both high and low voltage. The low voltage for the fan usually comes from the green thermostat wire. Set your thermostat to the off position but the fan in the on position. Put your meter leads to the red thermostat wire and the common wire(usually blue) and you should get 24 volts. If you have no common wire use the red and yellow wire. This will establish that the transformer is working. If you get 24 volts the transformer is good, if you get no voltage reading the transformer is either bad or you have no high voltage getting to the unit. If your transformer is good check from red wire to the green wire, if you get 24 volts you have a bad tstat; if you get no voltage that indicates the tstat is good and the fan should be working, again check for high voltage. It could also be a bad fan relay.

Why in a electrostatic precipitator high negative voltage given to emitting electrode where as collecting electrode is normally earthed?

electron can easily penetrate in to dust particle

Electrical Properties of Transformers why you use it?

Transformers are used to convert electricity from high voltage to low voltage and from low voltage to high voltage.

How much is the chance of death due to 0.4Ampere current?

A 0.4 ampere current thru the body can kill, but it normally takes a fairly high voltage to get that current thru the skin, which has high resistance.
