Usually because the people who are causing the problems will make a big fuss if you try to make them stop. I fully agree. Politicians risk corporate support if they address the environmental problems that corporations are creating. It's easier for them to play dumb, than to tackle the tough issues head-on. What they fail to realize is a younger generation of voters will not allow them to continue operating this way. Eventually, politicians will have to be more accountable. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking!

The overriding problem confronting the environment is poverty. When people are impoverished and starving, it is difficult to look at a tree or a wild animal and see anything but a dollar sign. The second problem is perceived cost - that of the costs incurred by business, industry, and consumers to pursue environmentally-friendly solutions. It's a lot easier to just belch pollution into the air, for example, than to develop, implement, and pay for technology to remove those pollutants. That was the way the world worked for about 150 years before the ill effects of pollution became evident and environmental issues became more important to the general public. Although it may cost more in dollars to prevent pollution, the social and medical cost of polluting is usually much higher. The third problem is government apathy. This goes back to poverty, and the unwillingness to protect the environment in favor of fostering capital in the short term. The fourth problem is ignorance. ____________________________ Hai this is ramesh (Bangalore) Ecological Imbalance Global Warming Lack of concentration on "Agriculture" due to changing modern life style. Because so much is invested in large companies lulling the public into a false sense of calm belief in the system. That inability to have truth and transparency mixed with the ocean soup and the state of various religions in modern times there is little room for social change on a time scale that will include our generation.

Let's see who worries about what though when the polar caps (north and south) halve in size and then disappear altogether, people will be building underground networks to avoid the sun and we will be teaching our kids about the old days when you could go to the beach all day. Not too far off in fact, yet still makes people feel uncomfortable.

A:

Part of the issue is that everyone has an opinion on the subject, despite the knowledge level. Some believe the planet has seen warming while others do not.

If we are to address climate change in any way it will require a large change in the lifestyles of people today. People will want proof before they are willing to live a lesser lifestyle.

There are many factors that make the resolution of environmental problems difficult - simple problems have connections that yo don't want to mess with. For instance:

* CFCs harm the ozone so ban them: But what about inhalers for asthmatics and fire fighting systems on jet aircraft they use CFCs

* DDT is harmful to birds so ban it: what about the millions that die from malaria every year, they need a cheap and effective pesticide * Carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming, so prevent any one from using anything except green fuels: what happens to people in cold climates where heating is essential and green fuels are not easily obtainable * cars cause pollution so eliminate them: public transport systems would take decades to build and where is the money to come from * agribusiness polluted the land and wrecks ecosystems so go back t ma and pa farms: who is going to decide who is to starve to death when food supplies run short * suburbs are not ecoefficient so move everyone back to efficient cities and let them live in apartments: no homeowner will give u hiselegant home for an apartment

The solutions are not hard to find the implementation is the difficulat part. many solutions cause their own problems. Many solutions depend on people scaling back on their expectations and lifestyle - and they are unwilling to do this.

How does climate change make tornadoes?

The common idea is that a warmer climate means that there will be more energy to power violent storms such as tornadoes. This view is grossly oversimplified. Weather and climate are very complex and difficult to predict. Scientists are still uncertain how climate change might affect tornadoes.

Why is it difficult to identify any single cause of climate change?

It is not difficult. The one single cause of climate change is global warming. There are several causes of global warming, but the two main causes are the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and deforestation (cutting down trees which used to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere). Both these mean more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and this is what is causing global warming which is causing climate change. Not difficult to identify at all!
