The idea that animals should never be used for testing is not reasonable. The idea that animals need to be foolishly abused duringtesting is also not a reasonable stance.
Humans need to test certain products and medicines on creatures to see if they interact in a favorable manner. This can ONLY be done on animals or other humans.
The conditions for most animal testing is very humane. The extremist groups do get the more "touchy feely" thinkers to contribute a great deal of money to fringe groups such as PETA so that the executives can live a very nice lifestyle. PETA is a favorite of mine because they don't "fence animals in, they fence the world out". They are known for some very unusual concepts. There current SAVE THE WHALE campaign featuring heavy females is just one such extremist example of cruelty to humans that the group regularly takes part in.

∙ 15y agoIf you sell a product that say accidentally causes some consumer to have an adverse reaction you can end up in court and be up for a fortune. this is especially the case with the rat bag legal system in the USA and closely followed by Australia. So to get the insurances in place that are required to get the investment required to get this type of business of the ground you want to be damn sure that nothing goes wrong . Animals don't sue you if you blind or maim them especially if you use the weak as water excuse that its for the common good.

people think animals are more convienent to test on then humans because animals cant object or sue if something goes wrong
Who really knows... only the people experimenting on them truly know their own reasonings behind it but for the most part we hear about animals being used to test out vaccinations or hair and makeup products things such as these.

If there is no law on animal testing then why is it being done?
The reason we should get rid of animal testing is because it is torture to the animals and animals dont have the same reactions to things like humans do. they react a whole lot differently. So please stop animal testing & animal cruelty!

I haven't done any applied research with animal testing, although I have done basic research with them in the past. However, every drug and medication that is on the market today has had animal testing. Antibiotics, Pain Meds, Heart Meds, etc. Certainly animal research also includes basic research and not every test will result in a marketable drug.

Does animal testing always work?
no. animal testing is not always accurate because the body structure of an animal is differnet than the body structer of a human being. Hence the results may not be the same.

The test is done on an animal to "prove" results in a human. Thefore the experiment is being done in a less than perfect model. It would be more scientific to test the substance on a human. However, it would be less ethical to test a substance with unknown results on a human.
