Overheated. As to why, could be multiple causes, Overflow opens only when cap pressure exceeded. Check circulation first to ensure thermo is not stuck and water is circulating by squeezing top hose as it warms up, ensure fan is running and water level ok.
Near the bottom of the coolant reservoir ( overflow tank)
The hose that goes from the overflow to the bottom of the radiator on a 2002 Windstar is the bypass hose. It allows coolant from the overflow to return to the radiator as it cools.
On the bottom of the plastic coolant overflow (fill) container on the passenger side.
on a 2002 Chevy silverado with a 4.6 liter v6 where is the coolant sensor for low coolant. I have a light on and check the overflow and their is coolant but don't know if their is another one or not.
It should be filled to the "Full" mark on the side of the bottle.
You might check your overflow tank for coolant. It might be too full
Just buy some new section of hose, pretty cheap.
You need to check your coolant level in your radiator and overflow and make sure the coolant to water ratio is mixed properly at 50/50.
If you are referring to the temperature of the air coming from the heater, the most likely cause is low coolant in the cooling system. If that is the case, coolant is not flowing through the heater core when at idle, or stopped. Easiest fix is to check the coolant level (engine cool) at the radiator cap. Make sure it is absolutely full. Once that is done, also check the level at the overflow tank. Make sure it is at least half full at all times. This helps to keep the coolant level "topped off" so that there is no air in the system. Good Luck, Greg
I had the same problem with my 2002 Escape XLT. Another website suggested (and it worked for me) to check the coolant overflow reservoir. Apparently the signal for "low coolant" shows up as "check battery".
