I had the same problem with my 2002 Escape XLT. Another website suggested (and it worked for me) to check the coolant overflow reservoir. Apparently the signal for "low coolant" shows up as "check battery".
It means there is a problem with the charging system. Normally a bad alternator.
Bad alternator- not charging battery enough to keep vehicle running check with a volt meter A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running With engine running should read approx. 13.8-14.2 volts
Unhook the positive post to the battery for approx 10 minutes. That SHOULD take care of it IF the problem that triggered the light is fixed.
There is no reset for the battery light. If the light is on there's a problem with the electrical system and once the problem is repaired the light will automatically go out.
There is no problem...the problem was the alternator. You have fixed the problem.
I had the same problem try one of the fuses on the battery it was one of these that had gone and it cured the problem. Cost approx 50p rather than £400 for a new pump.I had problem with the connector under the fuses-the abs light up 30% of the driving time-Cost nothing to fix it.
If the light is still on then the problem was not the battery but was instead the alternator which is more than likely defective.
Have the charging system checked. The light comes on when there is a charging system problem. it may be a battery, alternator or a battery problem.
first scan it to find out why it is on -- you can reset by disconnecting battery for approx 10 min - it will probably come back on if you didn't repair the problem
The battery light usually comes on if there is a charging system problem Either battery or alternator are the usual causes.
The battery warning light illuminates when the battery isn't being charged , get it checked out to find the problem and then repair.
AnswerI installed a new battery in my 2008 Escape after I accidentally left the lights on all day and it died. Now my radio doesn't work and some of the things that used to light up don't. I don't know what the problem is, but I do know that it's directly related to the new battery. So to answer your question - it definitely might.
