The air compressor takes time to shut down fully so it can't stop as soon as Ur veichle has stopped
On a commercial vehicle? There is none - there's a release valve on the air tanks which releases air pressure when the pressure in the tanks reaches a certain level. However, the compressor operates continuously while that vehicle is in operation.
An AC compressor compresses the freon and circulates the freon through the system. An air ride compressor pumps compressed air into air bags to level the vehicle and/or alter the handling of the vehicle.
It compressed the refrigerant. It may also have an air compressor if the vehicle has an air ride system.
On a vehicle with a compressor with a cycling clutch, yes.
You can better see the compressor if you lift up the vehicle......
A portable air compressor would be one small enough to carry or has wheels on it so it can be rolled where you need it , a stationary compressor stays where it is installed
Most Montana's have a rear air suspension in them (air shocks). The compressor is there to adjust the rear height of the vehicle depending to weight in the van.

Yes, every once in a while while driving your air compressor will kick on. If it seems to be running nonstop there is a problem. You would have a hole in one of your air bags if your compressor runs nonstop. Hope this helps.
It stays the same
The cost of changing an air conditioner compressor will vary depending on the make and model of vehicle and parts and labor costs. On average, it will cost around $250 and up to replace the compressor.
