There are different kinds of love. A man can love a woman deeply, but their personalities clash and they are miserable together (this may be the case with your boyfriend.) He loves her to a degree, but has to move on. Then he loves you for your qualities. This ex could have been his first love as well. As long as he's not seeing her any longer don't ruin your relationship over what he said to his ex. It's over or should be over! If he is still in contact with his ex then make it plan 'you don't share' and he has to make a decision between his ex and you.
