Why is heat only coming from the left side of the 2001 Montero XLS?

the heater core is stopped up, i have a 2003 with the same problem and the heater core solved it. The heater core is a huge job, I own a repair shop and it took us about 10- 12 hours

If it's the same 3.0L engine they put in the 2001 Montero Sport, the alternator is (looking from the front of the engine into the bay) located on the left side of the motor, toward the radiator, down low. It's straight below the power steering pump. There should be a belt that runs from the crankshaft to the alternator. Good luck... I'm on my third in 3 months.
