Children, who still have very weak immune systems and whose immune systems are still strengthening, are exposed to germs and bacteria frequently, especially while playing, thus the tonsils are prone to get infected. Adults hardly get tonsillitis due to changes that take place in the tonsils after puberty. Tonsils involute (“curl up”) after puberty and their function decreases. It also occurs as an allergic reaction to allergens, for example pollen, cold things, food preservatives, drugs, mechanical injury etc. Overcrowding, poor nutrition and inadequate ventilation help propagate epidemics of tonsils. Fatigue and exposure to cold may lower the body’s resistance to infection.

Complications after tonsillectomy can cause massive bleeding from the post-operative wound, which can happen 1-2 weeks after the surgery. In 1-2 weeks post-tonsillectomy, healing usually occurs. When a scab is accidentally removed, it may cause massive bleeding (since there are blood vessels reforming under the scab). In adults, the risk is approx.1-3% higher simply because they have bigger and more numerous blood vessels as compared to child.

----children normally tend to be healthier then adults, plus children`s bodies are designed to heal faster then adults bodies are designed to do.

----co-morbid sitaution in adults is another factor of complications in surgical procedures especially common disorders hypertension and Diabetes

Because they come very close in the school and they have fairly close physical contact with each other. When you grow up you keep respectable distance from each other and your behavior get dominated by your status and ego. Below five years children tend to remain in house and have less chance of getting strep, again.

Because with adults we have bigger and more numerous blood vessels. Meaning that it is easier for us to bleed out if there were complications.
