Why is it every time you slow down your van stalls on my 94 Oldsmobile silhouette?

My 1991 did the same thing.When the engine is cold unplug the torque converter lock up connector at the transmission bellhouse.It sounds like the lock up torque converter swith won't unlock when it gets hot(when driving and coming to a stop it feels like you are stoping a car with a manual transmission with out pushing in the clutch pedal).Once I unpluged this on my van the engine's rpm's are a little higher and I get about 1 mpg less, but it makes it driveable.

I have a 1995 Silhouette. If you're standing in front of your van, facing it, the oil filter is located at the left rear of the engine. I can best reach mine by lying down with by head at the rear of the passenger side front tire. Looking through the frame, you should be able to see it. It's a little tricky to reach, but not too bad.
