It's always hard to forget best/close friends.
you place all your trust in them and know that they are always there when you need them or want to talk.
Personally i find it harder to forget best girlfriends,as a woman you have a better connection and understanding of eachother.
I don't know if you are a man or a woman,or how long you have fallen out with your friend....
But the first impression i got from this question,is that you must have feelings for this friend. If you were desperate enough to write an online question to people you don't know,just to find out why your finding it so hard to forget, you musn't want to.
You obviously like this person too much to forget them, so my advice would be to try and make up with him,spend time with him again too see if you do have real feelings for him....and then tell him.
It could be the best decision you ever make.
