Why is it that my brand new car has a burning smell and tapping noise in the engine?

because its new that's what happens
or...the burning and tapping sound like low/no oil. I would definitely check the oil before driving it directly to the dealership.
I checked the oil, its full.
The burning smell was there when i drove out of the dealership but the noise only happened about 4 hours later.
