Why is it that when a gaming company makes a new system they stop making games for the old system?

Typically the company that makes the system doesn't make the game. IE Sony and Microsoft make systems while SquareEnix and Rockstar Games make the actual games. The reason they stop making it for the older systems is because there is more money involved in making it on the new system. A newer system provides better technologies for the game so the company can make it better on a new system. A better game sells more. The other factor that comes into play is that the longer a system is out, the more the price of games drop for it. Games will sell for around 20$ for an old system and around 50$ on a new system. A game won't be sold for 50$ on an older system because someone with that system will more likely buy 2 older games they haven't played and pocket the extra 10$.
In conclusion... Money is the answer.
