When you are young you have no clue how your life will unfold and you never know if you will be married and children or not. A education you always need and getting one is very important. You work before you have your kids and once they are grown you will use your education to get back out again. You will have choices in life. Without choices people usually feels trapped and then relationships falls apart as well. The most important teaching you can do after all is teaching your kids and being able to help them is priceless. As a family you have to make sure you can support yourself and that is not solely on the husbands shoulders. If someone feels that way there's a problem and a also a misunderstanding what marriage and family is all about.
However...if you have spent a scholarship and prefer sitting on your butt all day long polishing you nails and shopping and being a luxury housewife without kids to take care of I would be a bit annoyed with that. Many need those scholarships and the competition is fierce. It's about being fair really.
