You can view the 1997 Ford F-150 owners manual online at : www . motorcraft service . com ( no spaces ) Click on Owner Guides ( starting on page 98 , there is an explanation of the Brake Shift Interlock and what to do if you can't shift out of PARK with the brake pedal depressed )
the vehicle is stuck in park how do i get it out?
If a Ford Focus is stuck in park, you should first check to make sure the gear is not stuck. You also need to make sure you have your foot on the brake in order to move it out of park.
on a 94 ford f150 u should have a safety switch on the brake pedal so u cant shift outta park unless u mash the break it sounds like that's either out of adjustment or the switch has went bad
A Ford F-150 will often be stuck in park if the brake interlock switch is defective. It prevents the vehicle from shifting unless it detects the brake is being held.
You need to start the car, put your foot on the brake pedal, and then you can get outta PARK!!
Usually you have to press the brake to release from park, if this does not work, there is a fuse to operate this. Check with your local Ford dealer, they can help you.
If your Ford Contour is stick in park, the transmission may be going out. You gear shift may also not be all the way in place.
