looks to me like a MAF sensor, either its loose or may have accumulated some dirt on its connectors so needs a clean up. alternativly have a look at the IAC valve
If your gasket has blown and overheating occured then skimming will almost certainly be needed. Send it for testing and skimming better to be safe than sorry.
Exhaust manifold gasket leaking
buy a haynes manual mate. big job. total engine overhaul. head skimming. head gasket kit with new bolts etc. etc. if car is still running try kalimex to seal the gasket
If you know what your doing a couple hours (head will need skimming) if not take it to a garage
The white smoke means coolant being burned. So the chances that its a head gasket problem are pretty high.
Keep it scrupulously clean and don't let the gasket dry out.
i could rebuild your head gasket for 240 pounds depending on whether it requires the head skimming or not[cost goes higher poss around 300 if you require this done] this depends on where your situated aswell as I'm in Manchester
For a permanant cure the head gasket must be changed the head will possibly require skimming as well to ensure flatness Dependant what engine is fitted head gasket replacement times are qouted as between 6.1 & 9.0 hours best wishes
no a thin film of grease can be applied but do whatever the gasket mfg. says. Depends on the gasket and engine manufacturer. Follow what it says in the service information.
It's skimming - basically if a cylinder head warps due to heat/pressure it's usually a last-ditch attempt to try to revive an engine with a blown head gasket by skimming a few microns off and hoping that by doing that the new exposed metal doesn't have the imperfection. It takes some very special machinery to do it though as we are talking thousandths of an inch.

The two may not be connected as a head gasket can fail at any time
