Some reasons for this happening, you have a web browser open and it is playing a video, an application is trying to catch your attention by playing a tone like a musical note, you have a software based telephone system and an incoming call.
Finder >Your home folder > Music> iTunes > iTunes music. Depending how big this folder is, copy it onto a flash drive/external hard drive and paste it on to your new Mac, then go into iTunes and import the music folder. Should work. Good luck and congrats on the new Mac!

Depending whether you're on a mac or on a PC, all you have to do is copy the contents of : C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My documents\My music\iTunes (Windows) Home\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\ (Mac Os) on your hard disk.
On a Mac click on the music file in a folder and drag it into the iTunes Window and the music will be added to your iTunes library. If iTunes is not running you can drag the music file into the iTunes icon in the dock and it will be added to the library.
If they did not go into the Trash they may be in the Music folder within the iTunes Music folder within the iTunes folder in your Music section.
