Why is my male dog suddenly growling and snarling at my infant child when she tries to play with him is it because of the new puppies he's always been good with my daughter?

It probably is just because he is protecting the puppies. Usually it is the female's job to do so. If the puppies are still pretty young, then this is understandable.
