Guppies like to be around 75F so it may be looking for a cool spot in the tank. Hot water rises so its warmer at the top than the bottom. Or there could be many other reasons. If you are doing everything by the rules below the fish should not be sick. :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs at least 50% of its water changed every week. Keep the above rules and your fish stand a chance. Fail in any of them and I can guarantee that you will have constant health problems with your fish.

Sitting on the bottom, usually accompanied by heavy breathing (gill movements), is usually not a good sign. That would indicate a very high level of stress in a fish. Its not always permanent, and usually occurs after some large change, such as moving the fish from one location to another, or cleaning the tank out too thoroughly. It is a form of shock.

How did my fish tank magically clean itself?

I suggest that you learn more about your fish in your aquarium. One of your fish might be a bottom sucker which means that they eat all of the dirt on the side or bottom of your tank. If one of your fish are bottom suckers, that's probably the reason why your aquarium is clean. If none of your fish are bottom suckers, than somebody must be secretly cleaning your tank for you.
