Either the front or back turn signal bulb is out
Flashing headlights can mean different things, often signaling a warning about a potential hazard or alerting you to a problem with your vehicle. It can also be a signal for you to dim your high beams if they are too bright. In some cases, law enforcement officers may use flashing headlights as a signal to pull over for a traffic stop.
I have a 1996 Grand Marquis. If one of the brake lights goes out the signal on that side flashes faster. I would check the brake/tail lamps.
When a turn signal is flashing faster, it generally indicates that one of the turnsignal bulbs are burnt out. Either the front or rear on the same side. Replacing the burnt out bulb should correct the issue. If both sides are flashing either too fast or two slow, then the flasher module is defective. (Or multiple bulbs are burned out, read above) The flasher can be replaced with a new one that should cost under $5-10 and is available at any auto parts store.
The turn signal flashing very fast is a symptom of a bulb being burnt out. The clicking is normal and you are just hearing the Flasher Relay. It gets louder when only one bulb in the circuit if good. It has always been there although not as loud.
Both turn signals work when they want to. The hazzard lights work just fine. All bulbs are great. The turn signal indicator will flash inside the car for a few seconds and then stop. The outisde turn signal lights stop too.
Could be a bad bulb (dual filament) and they are touching each other sending signal through parking light circuit or a bad ground sending signal searching for ground to the path of least resistance
It can sometimes turn too quickly. This can cause the vehicle to turn over and an accident to occur.
The bulb is bad or about to go bad. I put a new one in and still had same problem. Did a 1/8 turn twist the socket to get better connection but bulb broke off exposing wire. Super glued it but stlll not flashing or now too fast. Got another non- defective bulb and wala fixed!
You should use your turn signal in far enough advance so the car behind you knows you are going to turn and has enough time to slow down. However, putting the turn signal on too far in advance can be confusing because the following car will not know exactly when you are going to turn.
Replacing the non-working bulb for left turn should resolve the problem and it will stop the cops from pulling you over too.
The answer is, a shorted turn signal switch. I just replaced mine after experiencing the same thing. Be careful, if you wait too long, it can short internally and start smoking or catch fire. I experienced the "Smoking Switch" and quickly removed the 10 amp fuse under the hood for the turn signals, then replaced it. Good Luck.
