Unfortunately, many wireless cards are still not supported in Linux distributions, because the manufacturers refuse to release any product specifications in order to write drivers.

There are a couple ways around this problem:

1. Install a proprietary driver package, such as MadWifi or bcm-fwcutter. If you can connect to the internet using Ethernet, these should be easily installable from Synaptic.

2. Install ndiswrapper, and "wrap" an existing Windows driver. This option is less desirable, but it is still the only way to get some devices to work. ndiswrapper can also be installed through Synaptic. You will also need a Windows 2000 / XP driver forthe card.
