Assuming you are referring to nitrogen trichloride, then it IS polar, it is NOT chiral though. NCl3 has C3V symmetry and therefor is polar. The molecule is NOT planer due to the lone pair on Nitrogen so the bond dipoles do NOT cancel thereby making it Polar.

Beryllium chloride is a nonpolar molecule.

Is nitrogen molecule polar or nonpolar?

diatomic nitrogen is nonpolar because neither one is attracted to the other. In other words, they both have the same electronegativity and therefore is no pull towards one in particular.

Is nitrogen chloride nonpolar?

N=3 I=2.6 You do the math. 3<2.6x3

Is a nitrogen molecule nonpolar or polar?

Nitrogen gas (N2) is completely non-polar.See the Related Questions for how to determine the polarity of any molecule!

Why NaCl is soluble in water but I2 is not?

Iodine is not a soluble because its non polar and does not dissolve in water , it sinks to the bottom and turns the water a yellow colour.

Why is nitrogen insoluble in water?

Nitrogen is insoluble in water because it does not form strong interactions with water molecules. Nitrogen is a nonpolar molecule, while water is a polar molecule. Polar molecules dissolve in water due to the attractive forces between the positive and negative ends of the molecules, but nonpolar molecules like nitrogen do not have these strong attractions and therefore do not dissolve.

Is Dihydrogen monoxide an example of a nonpolar molecule?

Dihydrogen monoxide (H2O or Water) is not an example of a nonpolar molecule. It is a polar molecule.

The chlorine atoms in hydrogen chloride have a stronger attraction for the electrons than the hydrogen atoms do The hydrogen chloride molecule is therefore a nonpolar covalent molecule?

True. A measure of the ability of an atom to "attract" electrons is electronegativity. Cl is more electronegative than H.

Is NCl3 polar or non-polar?

NCl3 could be considered nonpolar because nitrogen and chlorine have nearly the same electronegativity.

Will sodium chloride dissolves in carbon tetrachloride?

NaCl will not dissolve in CCl4 is a polar molecule and polar molecule will only dissolve other polar molecules. As the same goes for non polar molecules.
