Last one? Polio is still problematic. We are working on ridding the world of this disease. Source: http://www.polioeradication.org/disease.asp
Polio still exists in some parts of the world.
In 2006 only four countries in the world (Nigeria, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan) were reported to have endemic polio. However by this time rumors had begun to be common among Muslims that the vaccine was a western plot to sterilize their women. This has resulted in rising opposition to vaccination programs including killings of immunization workers in many Muslim countries. Polio then quickly spread in Africa and southern Asia and it has been difficult to catchup again, although by 2013 it had finally been reduced to only three countries in the world (Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan) which still had endemic polio.
NO, there is a vaccine for that.
Polio is transmitted through saliva. This could be found in lakes, pools, sharing a drink, etc.
Yes, as of October 2012 Polio is still endemic in three countries. These countries are Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. Polio also spreads to countries The disease has also been reintroduced to 5 non endemic countries. The total case count for 2012 to date is 166.
After Franklin got polio he went into a wheel-chair and still became president
I dont know if you can still be born with Polio, but I do know that my grandfather was born with it but did not show signs of having polio until he began to try and crawl.
polio does not directly effect Indian economy.but personal economy will be effected. person with polio can still do all the indoor jobs, still standing on their own. but if the no of polio patients increases then it may start effecting little as india is a major country for human resource.
Polio hasn't been completely eradicated. It is no longer in North America. However, parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria are believed to still show signs of Polio. This disease can be eradicated though. To eradicate a disease, you must first stop the transmission of the virus. This means that immunizations must be given. This should mainly start with children before they are susceptible to the virus. Eventually the virus will die because it will not be allowed to transmit to another person.
