There are still countries where polio is endemic. examples are Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Niger and Afghanistan

However by this time rumors had begun to be common among Muslims that the vaccine was a western plot to sterilize their women. Polio then quickly spread in Africa and southern Asia and it has been difficult to catchup again, although by 2013 it had finally been reduced to only three countries in the world (Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan) which still had endemic polio.

This should mainly start with children before they are susceptible to the virus. Eventually the virus will die because it will not be allowed to transmit to another person.
