iodized salt They claim that it is good for memory and good for growing children etc etc.. the ads take care to sell it by camouflaging the fact that this iodised salt is 90 % sodium only .! They buy the normal salt from salt mines grind it and take away the potassium magnesium and zinc sulphate that is present . These are used for fertilizers in fact a double cross ! And when you consume this iodised salt you are prone to cancer what little iodine you need you get from natural foods. !

So go ahead and get those crystalised common salt and use it ..

Salt is Sodium Chloride. Iodized or Iodised salt is Sodium Chloride with minute amounts of various iodine-containing salts.

Iodized salt was used as a method for getting people with iodine related deficiencies like goiters, which at one time was a pretty big epidemic around the world. Which is ironic since salt is poisonous in high concentrations. Iodized salt reduced the occurrences of iodine deficiencies around the world where it was available, so in a using this salt was healthy in the sense that it was preventing diseases, but in the same sense, too much salt in your diet can cause all sorts of health issues.

Sea Salt is just that, salt from the sea. Different areas of the world have different salinity levels (dissolved salt concentrations) and different mineral makeups. In general, sea salt is considered in some places more "gourmet". It can cost more than regular table salt, which is just pure Sodium Chloride, which had to be purified by extraction methods. Sea salt is just as poisonous in high concentrations and has the same health effects as any salt.

But in your diet you do have to have some salt, while, too much salt is also a bad thing. Too much salt can add plaque to your veins and arteries and hardening of the blood vessels which can lead to Heart disease.

Salt is salty, different tastes from different places, and a lot of diets lack the iodine requirements in your diet, iodized salt gets you enough, and sea salt gives you a taste of the ocean it came from. Like the cliché , everything in moderation.

Sea salt does not have iodine added to it. The only salt that has iodine in it says iodized, such as table salt.

Is sea salt un-iodized salt?

Sea salt can be iodized or uniodized depending on whether iodine has been added.

Is sea salt iodized?

sea salt naturally contains iodine. Table salt is iodized to prevent goitre or enlargement of the thyroid gland.

Is sea salt healthier for you?

Yes. It is made more naturally than regular salt.

What other salts are typically used for cooking besides iodized salts?

Fewer and fewer cooks are using iodized salts in preparation of foods. Instead they substitue sea salt which has proven to be a healthier choice. For religous reasons, some restaurants may use only kosher salt in their cooking.

Is sea salt better than iodised salt?

Salt is sodium chloride (independent of the source is NaCl); iodized salt is better because iodine is indispensable for the organism (especially for the thyroid gland). A deficiency of iodine is practically equivalent to cretinism and goiter. The use of iodized salt is strongly recommended by WHO and imposed by the legislation of many countries; iodized salt is useful also for animals !

What is the difference between iodized salt and sea salt?

Sea Salt is natural salt that has been evaporated from the sea to produce salt (sodium chloride crystals) with very small amounts of other trace minerals found in sea water. Iodized salt is regular table salt that his been adulterated with small amounts of iodine, by mixing in either potassium iodate, potassium iodide, sodium iodate, or sodium iodide in extremely small amounts, for health reasons. Iodized salt is provided for cooking and normal seasoning. Pickling is normally done with Non-iodized salt. Kosher salt takes its name from its use in the koshering process. All unprocessed salt is considered Kosher to eat. For example, sea salt. Kosher salt generally possess larger, irregular grains than table salt, which allows it to draw moisture out of meats and other foods more effectively than the other salts. It contains no preservatives and can be derived from either seawater or underground sources.

Does iodized or sea salt dissolve quicker?

The same solubility, only granulation is important..
