German and Croatian intelligence recorded conversations of their leadership admitting responsibility for the attacks on the US in 2001, since they had attacked the same location in 1993 it constitutes an invasion attempt.

So, we are fighting to essentially to establish a new government there that won't attack us.

The National Guard also serves as the National Guard of the United States. Thus, they are essentially a reserve component of the Army (Army National Guard) and the Air Force (Air National Guard). Under the Total Force Policy of 1976, the Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard are essentially defined as one force, and it was ensured that Guard and Reserve units would be rotated into deployments along with the Regular Army. This was implemented by General Creighton Abrams, who felt that doing such would prevent another war from being waged without the consent of the American people, and would also weed out "champagne units" - units which wealthy or affluent people would serve in (particularly during times of a draft) which were more or less assured zero chance of deploying.

Because the war there is not over..This is a critical area that must be suppressed. The Taliban are allies of A l quada, and democracy must be allowed to flourish in that region.

What year did National Guard go to Vietnam?

Very few National Guard units were sent to Vietnam, even though the draft was in effect. This led to the creation of the Total Force Policy, which effectively established the Regular Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard as a single, unitary force, and is the reason the deployment of National Guard units has been so widespread in Iraq (both in 1991 and in the current operation) and in Afghanistan.
