All bishops are important because they are successors to the Apostles, and have the fullness of Christ's priesthood. Archbishops are just bishops of Archdioceses, he is also styled a "metropolitan".

I happen to be an Episcopalian and am happy to answer your question. The Archbishop of Canterbury, is the spiritual head of the world-wide Anglican Communion-over 85 million people. He can't be compared to the Pope. He presides over the Anglican Convocation that is held every 10 years and represents our church in ecumenical meetings world-wide. He is the bishop of Canterbury in England-the other is the Archbishop of York. By tradition, he is the chief celebrant whenever the Royal Family marries. He is a product of the Apostolic Succession but has no extraordinary powers than other bishops of the church. Our church has always placed much emphasis on tradition and rituals. The Archbishop is a beneficiary of that-nothing more!
