The obvious answer is that the light is on because something is wrong! What you need to look at is why has the light come on. If for example you have fitted an aftermarket exhaust, and there is nowhere for the catalytic converter cable to plug in (as on mine), the computer 'believes' there is a problem and warns you. On the other hand if the same cable is melted by the exhaust this will make the light come on. But I'm just clutching at straws! If you have changed something on the car did the light come on around this time? If so, then this is the area you need to look in. If the light has simply come on for no reason, then I suggest you take the car to a garage, where they will run a simple diagnostic test, probably from a laptop. This will take around 15 minutes give or take a few. This is inexpensive and will tell you the exact cause of the problem. If you have modified the car and want the light to go out, this can be done. I believe this costs around £100, but obviously varies from place to place. Regards Chris
