Why is the fuel flooding on an Ford Ranger?

Don't know if you have found an answer yet or not, but you really need to supply some more info on your Ranger... for example; what YEAR MODEL, what size engine, etc. I would suggest that you check the onboard computer for any error codes. Actually, there are QUITE A FEW sensors that could have gone bad that could cause your flooding problem. To check the computer codes, either take it to a shop where they have a scanner to connect to it, or you can do this yourself, IF you have an analog multimeter. If you need the instructions for testing it yourself, leave another message and I will TRY to explain this to you. ------------- My 87 Ranger was smelling like gas, and the fuel economy dropped drastically. I drove by a shop, and the owner checked the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR first. That was it - it was bad. I went to the parts store, got one for about $40, and replaced it in about 30 minutes. If you go to the parts store and look at one, you will likely be able to find it on the engine (drivers side, near the firewall, above the engine - with a hose linking it to fuel injection system). I think the sign that it was bad was when the mechanic removed a hose from the front of it - gas went everywhere. I do not think it was supposed to be so loaded with fuel.
