Fuel line or fuel rail
leaking line or fuel tank
fuel line routing on 1979 Yamaha xs1100
fuel rail leaking or on the fuel side of rail there is a "O" ring in line to seal it from leaks. if it is leaking, release fuel pressure from system, take out main fuel line to fuel rail and replace "O" ring on end of line.
In my experience, you can splice in fuel hose where there are fuel line leaks in some, if not most scenarios. BUT if it is in a dangerous area, like near exhaust engine etc, you should probably replace metal with metal. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
the fuel filter is inside the fuel tank. it is attached to the petcock, its a little screen. you have to remove the petcock to clean it properly. or you can blow air back through the gas line, this will free up the dirty screen a little. make sure you take the gas cap off the tank,or it could rupture the tank. always use extreme caution when working with fuel.
Look and see where it is leaking from.
If there is one it will be located from the main fuel line running from the petcock to the carbs.
Could be any of these: Bad fuel pump, blown fuse or broken wire (if you have an electric pump), dirty fuel filter, blocked fuel line, fuel line leaking, no gas in the tank.
I would suspect you have a fuel leak at the fuel tank. Can be a fuel line leaking or the fuel pump gasket may be defective.
If your Yamaha TTR 250 starts but keeps cutting out after a fuel minutes, it might not be getting enough fuel. Check to ensure the fuel line is not clogged.
