"Garden" (paradeisos(GK), Gan(HB))means "Park-like garden" or "Paradise".
"Eden" means 'Pleasure, Delight'.
So "Garden of Eden" means 'Paradise of Pleasure", where mankind was introduced to their home and the prospect of living in this paradise on earth, forever. It was indeed a 'paradise', fulfilling the needs of 'every living thing'(Genesis 2:7-10 / Psalm 145:16) with the prospect of unending joy and contentment for all humanity, as well as for all creatures put under their care(Genesis 1:28). It's continuation was based on humanity's ongoing love and appreciation for their creator's right to make the rules(Genesis 2:15-17), and their heartfelt desire to obey him. (Genesis 3:1-19)

I'm not sure we know that Adam was created outside of Eden. There was a geographical location called Eden and there was a garden called Eden.
