Yes it does. A developed country may withstand it better, because there might be a higher standard of construction and have more resources to tackle the damage and help victims, but it can still be very badly affected.

An earthquake can effect a nation's economy by a lot. Many stores, restaurants, hospitals, and homes are destroyed. The shops and businesses can not open therefore can not sell their products or offer their services. The cost of rebuilding the nation also can alter the economic flow.
