The incarnation is a direct revealing of God's character--or stated more precisely a revealing of who God is.

Jn:14:9: Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

1Jn:1:2: (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

Jn:1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jn:1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The incarnation of God was foretold.

Jn:1:45: Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Jn:5:39: Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Mt:1:23: Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Lk:24:27: And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Acts:18:28: For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Rom:1:2: (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)

The incarnation is to save us--from ourselves(our sin,our mistakes)

Jn:3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Mt:1:21: And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Mt:18:11: For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

Lk:9:56: For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

The incarnation and its subsequent sacrificial death was for our mistakes(our sins, our transgressions).

1Pt:3:18: For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Rv:1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Mt:20:28: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Jn:1:29: The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

1Cor:15:3: For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

The incarnation of Christ was to make us holy(acceptable to God,obedient to the law of life---the ten commandments)

Heb:10:10: By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Mt:5:48: Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

1Cor:6:11: And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Heb:10:14: For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Indeed, the whole plan of redemption(the purpose of the incarnation) could be summed up in these few words:we failed, God succeeded in our place, and He(God) took our failure upon himself.

The incarnation is important because it is God becoming man. Mankind was full of sin, which they couldn't overcome. Without God becoming man and living a perfect sinless life, He would not have been able to pay our sin debt.

The resurrection is important because it "proved" that Jesus was God because He was able to overcome death. It is also important to give us hope that there is life, eternal life, after our death on earth.

How does the Incarnation affect christians views of god?

In Christianity, the Incarnation refers to the second person of the Trinity, the Son, becoming fully human, while maintaining full divinity: Jesus the Christ is both true God and true human. The incarnation is believed necessary for the salvation of humankind. Therefore, while Christians believe in God as transcendent and totally other, they also believe that he is immanently present and intimately connected to us, collectively and individually. God has become man, so that mankind can become God - really, to be incorporated into Godself. Along with the belief of God as Trinity, the Incarnation is the belief that most starkly separates Christians from the other Abrahamic, monotheistic religions of Islam and Judaism.
