Idk for sure... But I do know that it's better to wonder without a guarantee then it is to believe that a childrens story character like god or santa has something to do with it.
The Moon has gravity, it is about 1/6 that of Earth's, but it is strong enough to keep objects from floating away.
Yes, it is about 1/3 that on Earth.
The Earth's gravitational force keeps it from moving away into outer space. (* Gravity is a mutual force of attraction between matter, so the Earth pulls on the Moon while the Moon pulls on the Earth.)
They were just moon walking. Due to decreased gravitational force it made it look like they were floating at times.

what keeps the moon from flying off into outer space

The only natural satellite the earth has is the moon. Earth's gravity is what keeps the moon from floating away. though in time (not for a long time though) the moon will disappear.

floating
The floating cat head that normally accompanies Chibiusa or Mini Moon around is named Luna P and can transform into anything on her command
It's a metaphor comparing the moon to ghostly ship floating along the clouds.
gravity
ahhh now.... When a spacecraft leaves earths atmoshere it does not leave earths gravitational pull! the moon itself is in earths gravitational pull. which is what stops the moon from floating away so as far as i can imagine if you put a space craft on the moon you have not left earths gravitational pull or the E.G.P
