It's not sung, yet it is read in a poetic manner called "Tarteil" or 'reciting'. Arabic is a very complex and hard language and the most difficult part of it is poetry and rhyming. It's nearly impossible to write a whole book in Arabic that consists of 6,000 verses that are completely free of grammatical errors and yet incorporates poetic vocabulary and figurative imaging that stretches Arabic to its limit. Muslims believe it's one of the miracles sent upon the pagan Arab Meccans (whom are adept poets) to make them believe in Islam.
