Marble absorbs heat and carpet doesnt therefore marble would would be hotter.
A marble floor feels hotter in summer than a carpeted floor because marble conducts heat. Since the heat gets trapped, it travels to the rest of floor raising the temperature. Carpet does not conduct much heat due to tiny holes that allow air ventilation.

I recently designed a two story brick colonial in PA. The second fllor windows are a few inches narrower and shorter than the first. You cannot tell this from either inside or out because of the perspective. It also makes the interior semetry much better.
Warm air tends to rise, so all else being equal the second floor may be warmer than the first. This is complicated by forced air circulation, so in any particular house this may not be true, or at least may not be true all the time.
There's a lot more to it than just height, but all other things being equal, a two storey building will be warmer than a bungalow.
