I dont think it is...... because the "support our troops" bumper sticker is in the shape of a ribbon but that has nothing to do with it
ribbons have been a symbol for death related causes such as wars and diseases. I have found the significanse of different colors but nowhere in the internet I have found the origins of it's implementation except for the yellow ribbon implemented in the 1950s but more heard of since the Irak war.
