In order to start a new category, there must be over 100 questions about that subject. If you find that there are over 100 questions about string theory, you can contact answers.com and let them know that fact.

String theory combines quantum mechanics with Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity. The theory states that a string undergoes a particular vibration mode corresponding to a particle with definite properties like charge and mass. The reasons wy string theory is not a category are:

This theory is primarily a mathematical construct and is yet to be done with experimental observations. And, before experimental validation, it cannot be taken into a category.

While physicists were assuming that all elementary particles are one-dimensional loops, or "strings," which vibrate at a different frequency, String theory can only work with 10 or 11 dimensions: three large spatial, six or seven compacted spatial, and one-time dimensions. The compacted spatial dimensions are about a billion or a trillionth of the size of an atomic nucleus. So, there's no conceivable way to detect anything small; hence, there's no known practical way to validate string theory experimentally.

As string theory attempts to combine two different theories: the quantum mechanism and general relativity. While quantum mechanics theory does very well in explaining the behavior of tiny objects, at the same time, general relativity theory works well in explaining the happening of huge things in the universe; hence they don't work nicely together. And this remains one of the major unresolved problems of string theory

Another problem in string theory is it assumes the standard quantum mechanism rules, although we need a new quantum mechanism theory. As it overthrows some of the Newtonian mechanisms and hence needs to be replaced.

String theory also fails to explain the concept of dark energy. This dark energy is a form of energy that is negative and puts repulsive pressure. It behaves in opposition to gravity. This dark energy is considered responsible for universe expansion. The inability to explain the dark energy concept marks the invalidation of string theory.

The co-founder of string theory, Michio Kaku, gave a one-inch-long equation on this theory. Hence we can say that the mathematics involved in this theory is very complex, due to which it becomes hard to find any relation from it. Such complexities make it challenging to relate string theory with real-world phenomena.

Gabriel Vinetciano found an equation explaining the strong nuclear force. He found an equation and published his papers. This led to the foundation of the string theory as these equations were an answer to the string theory

What is the string theory by michio kaku?

Michio Kaku did the 'String Field Theory' with the other scientist from Japan. All Michio Kaku did was make the equation of String theory to about 1 inch long.

What is the status of string theory?

No. not necessarily. Not one scientist has proved the string theory to be true so you can't say that its true or fake. Although I don't believe in the string theory anyway. There are also many versions of the string theory. I don't think that quantum particles like quarks are infinitesimal one-dimensional "string-like" objects. So in conclusion the string theory is not real nor is it fake. We don't have enough information about these particles and so we don't know whether the string theory is true or not. But remember there are many versions of the theory.

Can you tie a knot in a string-theory string?

check this page out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theoryAs you can already see the dimensions in string theory are already in knots. Also, the string in string theory are so unbelievably small that we would never be able to see them, let alone tie them into a knot.

Does string theory negate the four fundamental forces?

String Theory does not negate the four fundamental forces, it explains them in another way.

Does the string theory bridge the gap between Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum mechanics?

No, string theory is an attempt to bridge the gap between EVERYTHING, not just relativity and quantum, into one fundamental theory.

Is string theory the closest theory to a unified field theory?

Yes, so far it is- string theory explains many of the unresolved fundamental problems of our century, such as the opposition between Quantum Mechanics and Einstein's theory of general relativity.

What is Dr Michio Kaku famous for?

His largest contribution is co-founding String field theory, which is a variation of String theory.
