You have the infamous "Wet Carpet Syndrome". Check your cowl for leaks.
They have a vacum inside their esaphagus that makes sure no water is equal to X. the main reason for this is because its convientent.

The 1988 Beretta can run hot for several reasons. The Coolant could be low, the thermostat stuck, the water pump is bad, or there could be a blown head gasket.
More than likely a head gasket.
The rubber seal on the door has a crack, or an area where it it not effectively sealing, and when water from rain rolls down from the top of the car it is following the track of the seal, down into the inside of the car. The ONLY resolve for this I have found is to replace that rubber seal.

Um... Are you asking if any old water pump off the shelf will fit, the answer is no. Look up the proper water pump to your application at a local auto parts store.
it is located behind the pullys for the serpentine belt as things go in beretta this is one of the least pain in the butt thins to change
It should be inside the "water neck"...which usually bolts into the top of the intake manifold. You will have to un-bolt the water neck and you'll find it inside that.
