check the fluid level. if it is low it ill cause the tran. to shift late
The transmission shifting is late because the kick-down cable needs to be adjusted. The kick-down cable is usually found on the throttle lever with the throttle cable.
check for a failed vacuum modulator or a vacuum leak to the vacuum modulator. It sounds like you are shifting on the governor or engine management unit.
This transmission is notorious for shifting late, or not up-shifting at all. Here's a quote from "How Stuff Works."Link: http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1990-to-1994-chevrolet-cavalier-6.htm"Automatic transmission: TH-125 automatic transmissions may shift late or not upshift at all. The problem is a stuck throttle valve inside the transmission. (1990-94)."I had this problem with my 1994 Z24. But it went away (for now) when I replaced the O2 sensor and had the vacuum lines taped up (they were cracked).I also had a problem where the RPMs would go up and down (550-800) when at idle; but only after the engine had time to heat up.
I have a 1999 Dodge Caravan SE, While I am driving things are alright, but when slowing down to a stop the transmission downshift late. What causes thisand is there anything I should be concerned about. Recently, I put some more transmission fluid in . could I have overfilled it?This should help:Complete automatic transmission failure is obvious because the car will not move at all when shifted into forward or reverse. Usually the symptoms of impending automatic transmission failure are not quite as dramatic, and can be inspected by a mechanic to determine if the transmission needs replacing or if there is any chance the problem can be repaired.Delayed ShiftingOne common symptom of automatic transmission problems is delayed shifting when the vehicle is cold, particularly for reverse or first gear. Loss of One GearSometimes one gear will go out entirely while the others still function. If fourth or reverse gear fails, for instance, the vehicle at least can be driven to a shop. Unusual Shifting SpeedsShifting may take place at unusual speeds, earlier or later than it should. The speed where shifting takes place also may keep changing. Noise and JerkingAny noise while shifting is a symptom of automatic transmission failure, and so is rough, jerky shifting. Odd MovementIf the vehicle tries to move while in park or neutral, it most likely has automatic transmission failure. Shift Lever IssuesIf the shift lever is difficult to move, this indicates transmission problems as well.
They were manual transmission's Automatics did not really hit the scene until the late 1950s
You can check the fluid level of the transmission but it's probably to late for that, the transmission is kaput!
Possible bad trnsmission filter. Replace filter. HAve you checked the fluid level? or added the wrong fluid?
if you have waited until you have transmission problems to change the fluid, you have waited too late...........
Depends if you have a manual or automatic. Manual transmission, no, there is no transmission computer. For an automatic transmission, the engine computer and transmission computer are one unit typically called an ECM, Engine control module. There are many different names for and ECM. Ford started using computer controlled transmissions in the early 90's and late 80's.
it seams when it got hot it shifted but it stop shifting
It is a automatic transmission that was used in General Motors automobiles In the mid fifties to the late 60's. In the present the power glide is used in drag racing.
check transmission fluid then go to transmission mechanic. problem may be in computer and be a simple fix
