Play with it, don't disturb it while sleeping/eating. Every time you take it out give it a piece of food, then they will see that they get a little treat each time it allows you to take him/her out and it will learn that it is ok to be by you.

You might be eating a little too much. This is happening to me! i think you are building muscle through the excersise, you maybe losing inches though. Building muscle is better because it means you will use up more calories doing everthing even sleeping!
Eating too little is bad. It increases the risk for malnutrition. The result of being malnourished is unhealthy.
A 12 year old should have 8 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Sleeping to little or to much is unhealthy, especially when you are maturing.
