If you wish to be successful, and give yourself a chance at keeping your fish alive, you will supply the following necessities :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a fully cycled filter running permanently. :- Every tank must have 50% of its water replaced every week. Follow the above rules and your fish will stand a chance of survival. Fail to follow them and I can guarantee that your fish will have constant health problems. If you are complying with the above, then the fish are looking to spawn, and if you are not complying, you should improve the fishes living conditions and give them what is required.

∙ 14y agoThere is something wrong. Goldfish do not do this under normal condidions. They could have some kind of parasite irritating the slime coating. There could also be a problem with the quality of their water. I would advise a few large water changes and then see what happens.

∙ 14y agoIn a wild situation it is survival of the fittest. The smallest or weakest fish will always be the first to be pecked on and eventually killed and eaten. My advice is to FEED THE FISH.
