This is not too uncommon, sometimes the itching can be from the soaps used to clean your hand for surgery..it may take a week or or so but in some people it will cause a mild rash or itching. Also it could be from the skin being dried out or eczema. Also the skin in that area was kind of stretched so this sometimes irritates the nerves causing an itchy sensation later on. There's not a whole lot to be worried about and it should go away. Try soaking area in epson salts with warm water 2 x day, then apply neurtogena concentrated hand cream.
