Take the belt off, un-bolt the idler pulley, bolt the new pulley on, and finally put the belt back on and Viola!!
Are you talking about the "idler pulley"? They are quite simple to change. Loosen the serpentine belt by using a socket on the center of the tensioner pulley, slide the belt off the idler pulley, use a socket to pull the center bolt of the idler pulley and replace the pulley with a new one.
i dont really know-but to find out just look it up on google!
On the belt routing diagram under the hood (near the grille, but under the hood) you will find the location of the 'tensioner' pulley. You need to get a 15mm socket and place it on the bolt on the tensioner pulley. Then use a ratchet to put clockwise pressure on the bolt to loosen the tension on the belt. This will allow you to remove the belt from the idler pulley, remove the bolt, put on the new pulley. Now put clockwise pressure on the tensioner pulley again to put slack in the belt so you can slip it around the new idler pulley. You're done.
Remove belt and check to see that it rotates freely and smoothly
The idler pulley is attached by a 14mm hex head bolt. Although the pulley turns counter-clockwise, suggesting that the bolt might be left-handed threads, it is in fact right-handed. A 1/2" drive ratchet with a 14mm socket will loosen the bolt if turned in a counter-clockwise direction. Be sure and loosen the belt tensioner, located below the alternator, and loosen but not remove the other alternator bolts, prior to removing the idler pulley.
Using a 15mm wrench, turn the bolt in the center of the idler pulley clockwise to relieve tension and remove the belt.
Get a socket and a ratchet. Find out what socket fits the nut on the idler pulley. The whole idler arm should rotate counterclockwise. That'll relieve belt tension so you can replace the belt.
You have to buy the assembly with the mounting bracket. You can't just buy the pulley itself. You buy the whole assembly and remount it to the engine. that is not the whole truth. you can buy the pulley by its-self. the part is sold on eBay for $33, my father is having this problem and we have to replace the pulley
The 1994 would have a bolt on pulley while the 1998 had a pressed on pulley. Other than that they are same. A new pump would be of the pressed on pulley style. The 1994 would have a bolt on pulley while the 1998 had a pressed on pulley. Other than that they are same. Pulley - band - was created in 1994.
Perhaps a bad bearing in one of the belt driven components i.e. water pump, belt tensioner, alternator, idler pulley?
take pressure off the belt by pulling back the spring tensioner. Remove old belt, put the new belt on all the pulleys but the idler pulley, pull the tensioner back slip belt on to idler, Look to make sure you have the belt on all pulleys good, your done.

I need a diagram for a serpentine belt for a 1994 f150 with 5.0 engine I need a diagram for a serpentine belt for a 1994 f150 with 5.0 engine There should be a sticker near radiator shroud that has belt routing. If not stick the belt down past the right side of fan/water pump .put belt on crank pulley then pull back of belt over water pump and then down around power steering pulley and up over compressor pulley. put belt from crank pulley around smog pulley then up to tensioner with back of belt around tensioner and then around alternator pulley.next put rachet and socket(15 mm) on tensioner and pull on it while placing belt under idler pulley.

1. Using a 15 mm wrench place it on the pulley bolt of the tensioner pulley 2. Pull the pulley toward the front of the vehicle. 3. The belt will slacken then slide the belt to the side and remove 4. Replace the new belt starting at the bottom crankshaft pulley 5. Slide belt over each pulley in a counter-clockwise rotation excepting the idler pulley 6. After the belt is around all pulleys except the idler use the 15mm wrench to pull the tensioner pulley forward and slide the belt under the idler pulley and release slowly 7. The belt should go a. Under the crank pulley b. Up inside the water pump pulley c. Out around the outside of the air conditioner compressor pulley d. Under the idler pulley (this is the last pulley to put belt on) e. Across up and around the alternator pulley f. Down around the power steering pulley g. Up over the tensioner pulley h. Down under the crank pulley Good Luck and Safe Knuckles P.s. obscenities are optional i found a picture of the diagram fan belthes the web sit ( http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/30961_38000belt_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.2carpros.com/forum/1994-plymouth-voyager-awd-van-belt-diagram-vt29503.html&usg=__tddNYKmPJbCrU07Ig13DTeL-ooQ=&h=298&w=450&sz=35&hl=en&start=17&um=1&tbnid=LUy7UhqTIcqsRM:&tbnh=84&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dchysler%2B1998%2Bvan%2Bfan%2Bbelt%2Bpictures%2Bdiagrams%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DG%26um%3D1 )
