To reset the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) light on a 2001 Acura MDX, first ensure that the vehicle is in the "Off" position. Then, turn the ignition key to the "On" position (without starting the engine) and wait for the SRS light to illuminate and then turn off. After that, turn the ignition back to "Off" and repeat this process two more times. If the light remains on, it may indicate a persistent issue that requires diagnostic tools to identify and resolve.
The SRS light (airbag and seat bealts) comes on when the computer detects a malfunction and sets a code. You can not turn the light off until the cause of the code has been repaired.
if the engine is running and the red srs light is on. it indicates that the airbag/bags are not working correctly. if the light is on then goes out when the ignition is on. they are functioning correctly
Go to a mechanic and have them check the SRS system. The light should only illuminate in the event of a malfunction.

The AirBag module has registered a fault code. If you don't have the tool to read the codes then you will have to take auto to Dealer. START BY HAVING THE ENGINE TURNED OFF....... To merely turn off the SRS light, you will have to go under the fuse box in the engine compartment and located the yellow connector from the air-bag module and basicly "short" it out - you can do this by pulling gently the connector off of the fuse panel and using a "paperclip". Take the paperclip and open it so that each end can go into the 2 prong connector, then turn on the ignition switch (you don't have to start car), leave ignition on for 5 minutes until it clears out the fault. Check it by turning off the ignition, taking out the paperclip, reconnecting the harness connector. Once the fuse panel is secure, turn back on the ignition, start the car, and wait approx 5 minutes....Light should now be off.....
