Your tac took a dive:-(
Tach is driven by a motor signal, speedo is from the trans the sensor is bad on the transmission
white if its tbi
run it to the blue wire on your distributor. That's the tach lead.
Hook it to the negative side of the coil.
a factory cluster with a tach will work if installed w/o any other work. and aftermarket tach needs the signal wire from the distributor. look for a blue wire comming from the harness to the right of the master cylinder area. also near the hood prop. tap that wire for signal, then run your wires for power, ground, and illumination.
I would replace the fuel filter and check fuel pressure.
I'm not sure that a tach requiers a fuse .i could not trace out the useage for a fuse on my 91 max.my tach went out.however i did trace out through my chilton schematics that the tach receives its electrical power dirrectly via the acc1 & acc2 relays located beside the fuse block. under the steering wheel .behind the panel closest to the drivers door.on the right side of the fuse panel there are 4 relays .1 brown ,3 blue. the brown is rearwindow defogger, the bottom blue one is the ignishtion relay #1 .the 2 in the mid area are acc1 & acc2 if it is not the relays check for a tach sensor on the bottom of the block it may need replacing..all the best...buddy mack
Perception is that you have a serious electrical short somewhere in the dashboard area. Some positive voltage wire is being connected to ground (the chassis) when the dash lights are turned on.
No its not. 89-91 have a different plug than 92-94 some 91's have the newer needle style gauges with the tach and the older style plug but this cluster is rare.
Inadequate fuel pressue probably. Check fuel pressure with proper gauge.
i have the same problem with a 1993 acura vigor
92 * 92 = 8,464
