probably a water heater.... {BMF}
When you first realized the van was overheating you should have pulled over in a safe spot, shut the engine off and called for assistance. Continuing to drive an over heated engine will lead to catastrophic damage.
hi . i also own a 1998 Pontiac trans sport i was having the same overheating problem. try replaceing the thermostat first .or like me replace the lower intake gASKET MINE WAS BAD!! IF YOU HAVE NO heat in the van and the temp gauge in the van keeps jumping up and down that's what it is
I'm not a mechanic but, I had to replace my radiator to fix the overheating problem on my 1994. That was the last thing I replaced after replacing the water pump, thermostat, and replaced my fan with a clutch fan. have not had anymore problems with it overheating once the radiator was replaced. Flush the coolant first then replace the radiator. Hope this helps.
Water pump defective.
you can keep the ac on and before that wash the car with ice cold water
There are many reasons why a Jeep Wrangler is overheating. A leak in the radiator system will cause overheating. Too much pressure in the engine can cause overheating. A bad water pump or thermostat could cause overheating. The transmission can also cause overheating if it is leaking.
