Bruno Sammartino and Vince McMahon don't see eye-to-eye. The Hall of Fame was simultaneously made to find a way to honor Andre the Giant, and at the same time exclude those who were at odds with Vince. So Bruno's name didn't even come up the first year inductees were picked. Obviously, fans were outraged, and the WWF got a lot of letters asking why Bruno was not included, as any Hall of Fame without him is incomplete. So Bruno was asked the following year, and he declined. Bruno has stated that since he is openly critical of Vince McMahon and the WWF/WWE, he would find it hypocritical to enter the Hall. In addition, his recent comments show that he believed the Hall is a sham because there is no actual building where the Hall of Fame exists, WWE uses the Hall of Fame to sell DVDs and make money, and it's a sham because Pete Rose, who never wrestled, is in it. It's a shame because Bruno is very stubborn. I would like to see him in the Hall of Fame, and I believe his entire legion of fans feel the same way, even though of course we respect his decision.
