What are light bulbs that save energy called?

EcoSmart, ArmorLite, Philips, GE, and Sylvania all make a line of energy saving light bulbs. They all manufacture LEDs, CFLs, and halogen bulbs. All of these bulbs are comparable in performance and all of these products are energy savers.

What are high efficiency bulbs?

what is the difinition for high efficiency bulbs?

Why are energy savers used instead of normal bulbs?

To save energy, which costs money to buy. The same brightness comes for less power, and over time less energy is used.

Are traditional light bulbs wasteful?

Yes. Conventional (filement based) light bulbs are very inefficient converters of electrical energy to light - around 2% efficiency. So compared with "low energy" bulbs, which are around 8% efficient, they are wasteful.

Why do people buy low energy bulbs?

People buy these bulbs because it saves more electricity. However these bulbs may only have a little efficiency meaning that most of the energy is converted to heat while the small percentage is converted to light.

How long does energy efficient light bulbs STAY ON?

As long as they receive energy. The energy-efficiency refers to the fact that less energy is wasted as heat.As long as they receive energy. What is the led light bulb efficiency?

When you totally switch to LED light bulbs: 80% on energy savings and an average of 40% for all lighting.

What is an example of common technology that does not efficiently convert energy?

Incandescent light bulbs are inefficient at converting energy into light. They are so inefficient that in many places there is no a ban on the sale or manufacture of incandescent light bulbs in favor of higher efficiency CFLs, LEDs, or halogen lights.

What types of light bulbs are used in electric circuits?

Usually the light bulbs used are resistive components, but the energy savers used now a days are inductive components and they are used because they consume reactive(inductive) less useful power and save useful or real (resistive) power.

What is the name of those swirly light bulbs?

They are known as CFL bulbs. It stands for Compact Fluorescent Lamps.

Why would someone buy a led light?

LED offers a higher energy efficiency over neon or incandescent bulbs. They offer a longer use life then other bulbs. They are not restricted by shape as florescent is and are also mercury free.
